Joel Salituri, age 43, of Stoneham, was arraigned on the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon in Woburn District Court on Wednesday, April 26, the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office reports.
The charge stems from an incident that happened on December 26, 2022, in which Salituri allegedly showed a gun during an argument with a man on Main Street in Stoneham.
Salituri reportedly followed the man's car down I-93 North and into a parking lot before pulling up beside him, yelling derogatory statements, and exposing a handgun, the DA's Office reports.
The victim also reported that Salituri said he was police officer. Salituri was off duty at the time of the incident, the DA's Office reports.
At his arraignment, Salituri was released on personal recognizance and ordered to stay away from and have no contact with the victim. Salituri has also been placed on administrative leave by the Hingham Police Department, the DA's Office reports.
The nature of the derogatory statements are still under investigation. Salituri is due back in court on May 24, the DA's Office concluded.
